WHAT IS VOLUNTEERING

WHAT DOES VOLUNTEERING AT LAPUNYAH DO FOR OUR COMMUNITY 

  • Volunteering builds social connections through Arts and Culture and makes our community more resilient in times of crisis and change 
  • Volunteering reduces social isolation, bringing people together and creating social networks through the medium of the Arts 
  • Volunteering offers opportunities for social, economic, and cultural inclusion, and improves our health and wellbeing through, participation in and appreciation of, the Arts 
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY! Volunteering at Lapunyah provides a focal point for the Arts within our community and gives strength to the voice of our own unique Arts and Cultural practices in local, state and national contexts 

WHAT VOLUNTEERING AT LAPUNYAH CAN GIVE YOU 

  • Meet interesting people from a wide range of life experiences, including visitors to the Gallery, other Volunteers and artists 
  • Be a part of a proactive Volunteer group and Management team which pursues excellence in Gallery management and actively communicates and consults with all stakeholders in the Gallery 
  • Learn new skills related to Arts and Gallery Management, such as Installation, artwork conservation, processing sales of artworks and Gallery Merchandise, and Gallery-based Technology 
  • Socialise with other Gallery Volunteers during daily Gallery activities and as a part of the Volunteer Social Club 
  • Free access to the Gallery based Online Microsoft 365 Office, its related Apps and Online programs, and Canva Pro 
  • Selecting which part of Gallery operations you would like to be involved with, such as Meet’n’Greet, Installation, After Hours Volunteering (previews and events)  
  • Artists who volunteer can elect to be part of our Artist In Residence Program, where they can practice their specific skills in the Gallery Workshop space while doing Meet’n’Greet duties 
  • Local community groups can volunteer as Meet’n’Greet Volunteers and be a Gallery Volunteer Group, and have free access to the Gallery Workshop Space, as well as the whole Gallery facility, during Gallery Opening Hours to conduct meetings or practice their particular craft etc (Terms and Conditions apply) 
  • Arts and Crafts or other Tutors, wishing to rent the Workshop Space on a regular basis, can become a Gallery Volunteer, have access to the whole Gallery facility, Gallery owned equipment, have storage space allocated to them for their own equipment and engage with the Committee on matters related to the Workshop (Terms and Conditions apply)
