WHAT IS MARKETS@LAPUNYAH

Lapunyah Art Gallery Inc is a Not-for-Profit organisation which has managed Lapunyah Art Gallery for 25 years with the support of the Chinchilla Shire Council initially and now the Western Downs Regional Council. Our Vision is to ‘Inspire Creative and Cultural Expression, with a Mission Statement ‘To be a catalyst for the development and delivery of arts and culture’.

LAG Inc has as part of its 2024-2026 Business Plan committed to:

  • Providing a venue for local artisans to sell their handmade arts and crafts to the community
  • Promoting local handcrafted arts and crafts and artisans
  • Encouraging local artisans to view their art/craftworks as having a commercial potential

These commitments will be partly achieved through our Markets@Lapunyah project comprising four Seasonal markets, to be held at three monthly intervals in Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring. The markets will be held in Fuller Place and Lapunyah Art Gallery workshop spaces and walkways.

The markets will also incorporate mini-arts workshops for children and adults, music and other entertainment. Shops in Heeney Street are invited to open for later trading as well. The Cinema Cafe will also be open for refreshments.

Our first seasonal market was held on Thursday 18 July commencing at 4pm. A big thankyou to everyone who attended, the stallholders for joining us, the entertainers, Lions for the sausage sizzle, our three great tutors, Michelle, Sally and Helen, and our Gallery Volunteers for organising the whole event. Well done everyone!

If you are a stallholder, musician, entertainer or arts tutor, interested in being a part of our Spring Markets@Lapunyah keep watching our website and our Facebook page for more details!
